The Nothing Comic

The Nothing Comic – There is so much to write, from more Nihileafs comics to poems to essays to short stories to books and novels. Yet here I am not writing anything at all, it is literally a comic of nothing. Originally I was going to have the comic just be a black panel, but it struck me as that was not nothing. In fact this comic itself is not nothing, there is a title, after all how else would one know there is a nothing comic, and there is the web page, after all where else would one publish a nothing comic. It seems that it is impossible for humans or plants or life or sentient atomic particles to ever truly represent or understand nothing. Even that which is closest to nothing have something to them, such as space, full of dark matter and neutrinos, or black holes, full of mass and gravity, or darkness, only observable to us with light, or thoughts of death, full of our fears and apprehensions even as we try to contemplate the absence of our consciousness. Everything about existence is derived from something which precludes us from ever understanding or comprehending nothing. Nothing is beyond comprehensibility, perhaps even beyond metaphysics. When we die we don’t become nothing, instead we cease being something.  All this to say that this comic can’t do nothing justice, nothing can.  It is small comfort to also realize that nothing will never understand all the somethings that exist. Nothing has no mind to comprehend something or anything or everything. Then again our minds are too small and limited to comprehend everything, we are limited to our small metaphorical islands of somethings. For what it is worth, which might very well be nothing, it is something that nothing is not everything as there are many somethings, which is not nothing. – Zachary
