Saddest contains one of my favorite quotes of all time. Bonus points because I first read a variation of it in Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle,
“Of all the words of mice and men, the saddest are, “It might have been.”
Stoke’s variation is infinitely more pessimistic and depressing. The original is reminiscing on possibilities that didn’t become reality, Stoke responds by bemoaning what did occur. Hopefully Stoke’s witty response does it justice, I’m constantly plagued with self-doubt. Like what this comic could’ve been, what it might’ve been, what it shouldn’t have been! – Zachary
